WHAT PARENTS AND STUDENTS SAY ABOUT
DR CLAIRE RUTHERFORD-CHAPMAN

Huge thank you Claire for the session you had with my son. He said his listening went well and his teacher commended him, at the end, on his use of different tenses – high praise indeed!
GCSE German Speaking session

Claire helped prepare my son for his French GCSE speaking exam. She was thoroughly prepared, extremely knowledgeable of the speaking exam and quickly worked out how to get the best from my son.

My occasionally ‘hard to please’ son commented afterwards how helpful he had found it and felt reassured about what he needed to do. His speaking exam went well and this boosted his confidence for the rest of his GCSEs.

I can wholeheartedly recommend Claire and would love for her to work again with my son in the future. Thank you.

GCSE French Speaking session

Claire helped my son to prepare for his French GCSE speaking exam and this made all the difference to his confidence.

He came out of the exam buzzing and feeling positive about the rest of his exams.  His teacher even emailed me to say how pleased she was with how he did on the day.  Although he doesn’t find French easy, the extra tuition helped him to see he is perfectly capable of doing well in the subject.

My niece was struggling with her midwifery course and realised by the start of her second year that it was the
wrong course for her. She wanted to leave but felt very anxious about what the future might hold if she did. She had always loved drama and attained an A at A level so thought she would like to switch to an acting course, but without the security of sixth form teachers behind her wasn’t sure how she could achieve this.

Fiona from Student Navigator put us in touch with Claire Rutherford-Chapman who arranged two online sessions for my niece. In the first session Claire helped her to come up with a career action plan to help her to decide whether she really wanted to pursue an acting career or whether she just did not want to do midwifery. She also provided her with a grid to define the pros and cons of the drama courses she was starting to look at. In the second session she checked on what progress she has made and advised her on writing a personal statement that reflected why she had decided to change course and how to put that change in a positive light.

Claire kept in touch with us every step of the way – copying my sister and I into her emails – with my niece’s permission of course! My niece found her very approachable and felt that the advice that she’s been given has been invaluable in helping her to plan her future career.
We would recommend the knowledge and experience that Claire has given her to anyone who is unsure
about their chosen course or their future career.

Our 15 year old son had some low GCSE mock grades.  We knew he was
capable of much more.

He wanted to switch to a more selective school for A levels, and therefore he needed to gain a certain number of points to be selected for his new school. Claire spent a year mentoring him across several of his GCSE’s.

The result was a fantastic set of GCSE results and an offer of a place
at his new selective school.
Our son was struggling to organise his time and to understand how to revise
effectively. Finding Student Navigator and Claire was the best thing for him. With Claire’s help he was able to prioritise what to study and he felt much more positive going into his exams. Claire enabled him to feel motivated to succeed and confident in his own abilities. He, and us, were delighted with his results and he secured a place at a selective 6th form.

We can’t thank Student Navigator, and Claire enough. We will be back in touch
to organise mentoring for A level and also for our younger son.

The conversation I had with Claire was very useful in helping me decide what career route is right for me as well as showing me all the possible options I could look into.

She also guided me towards resources that I’ll be using for my next job search as my internship draws to a close.

She was excellent at understanding and listening to my current situation, interests and goals whilst
very friendly.

I had two career sessions with Claire to help me work out what to do after my A levels.

The advice and support Claire gave me was brilliant.

She listened and helped me to work out my priorities for university and future careers and gave me a really useful action plan to take away so I could do more research myself too.
