CAREERS ADVICE AND GUIDANCE SUPPORT

“Student Navigator has real expertise in guiding their students through the

variety of career options available to them.”

“Thank you so much for seeing me yesterday I cannot explain how helpful it was! I’ll keep you updated with everything, hopefully sending off my UCAS application within the next few days.

Thank you again and I’ll be in contact about any further sessions!”

“My niece was struggling with her midwifery course and realised by the start of her second year that it was the wrong course for her. She wanted to leave but felt very anxious about what the future might hold if she did. She had always loved drama and attained an A at A level so thought she would like to switch to an acting course, but without the security of sixth form teachers behind her wasn’t sure how she could achieve this.

Fiona from Student Navigator put us in touch with Claire Rutherford-Chapman who arranged two online sessions for my niece. In the first session Claire helped her to come up with a career action plan to help her to decide whether she really wanted to pursue an acting career or whether she just did not want to do midwifery. She also provided her with a grid to define the pros and cons of the drama courses she was starting to look at. In the second session she checked on what progress she has made and helped her to write a personal statement that reflected why she had decided to change course and how to put that change in a positive light.

Claire kept in touch with us every step of the way – copying my sister and I into her emails – with my niece’s permission of course! My niece found her very approachable and felt that the advice that she’s been given has been invaluable in helping her to plan her future career.

We would recommend the knowledge and experience that Claire has given her to anyone who is unsure about their chosen course or their future career.”

“Fiona at Student Navigator (SN) made a huge difference to our daughter securing her chosen university place and future career path. They explored career options together, her learning style and then put together plans on how to maximise her chances of success. Plans included targeting work experience, detailed development of her personal statement and practice interviews.

As parents we were naive and unable to provide this level of advice and even if we could have providing this to your own daughter is difficult at best. Happily, she is now settled in to her course and is thriving.

Our son is now embarking on the journey with SN and he is already much more focussed. In a world where competition is greater than ever before SN makes a difference and has been money well spent for us.”

“The conversation I had with Claire was very useful in helping me decide what career route is right for me as well as showing me all the possible options I could look into.

She also guided me towards resources that I’ll be using for my next job search as my internship draws to a close. She was excellent at understanding and listening to my current situation, interests and goals whilst very friendly.”

“I had two career sessions with Claire to help me work out what to do after my A levels.

The advice and support Claire gave me was brilliant.

She listened and helped me to work out my priorities for university and future careers and gave me a really useful action plan to take away so I could do more research myself too.”

“My very high achieving and very hard to please son in Year 12 was undecided about which route to take after studying A levels and consequently what university courses to apply for. Whether to go down a more expected (with his A level subjects) science route or opt for social sciences was becoming a decision that he was finding incredibly hard to make.

He asked to see Claire, having heard that she had helped a friend of his. She carefully unpicked his talents and skills, helping him to see where his heart and ambitions lay and provided him with an action plan to research and explore.

A couple of sessions with Claire helped him to make an informed decision about studying social sciences. He hasn’t looked back and is now happily studying a highly competitive course at a very respected university.

Claire has a talent for guiding and nurturing young people and I couldn’t recommend her more highly. Thank you!”
